Lee Roy Selmon blends the advantages of a scholarship to football in his family and volunteering in the community. The first is the Selmon family. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. They raised nine children on a Eufala farm. He played second in football and was the third brother who were players for Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was the top lineman for across the country. Over the course of three seasons, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy serving as their starting line-up. The team also took home 2 national titles. In 1975, Selmon was awarded the third scholarship of his career and was recognized as a National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in educational studies. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer hours per week during college. After college he settled in Tampa playing nine years for the Buccaneers were an all-pro three times before beginning an entrepreneurial career. By 1988 he had become an Account Relations Officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked in these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. He was no surprise that, in 1982, The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy among the top 10 outstanding youngsters across the country. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265 lbs during his time playing college football. He was a captain in 1975. led the squad. In 1993, he was named as associate director at the University of South Florida. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame by his fellow members of the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Selmons' parents Lucious and Mary Selmon Sr. were awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation.
