Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton escaped the struggles in her early life through her imaginative and creative imagination. She was writing songs before she was able to write or read. When she got her first guitar at age of eight, she started to perform on radio stations in Knoxville, Tennessee. In the same year, she released her first album with Gold Band Records an independent small label. As a student in high school she established herself locally but dreamed about a larger stage. She moved to Nashville following her graduation in 1964. Her first charting records with Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Porter Wagoner had been looking for female performers to perform on his show syndicated by him at this point. Parton joined Grand Ole Opry 1969 after having signed in 1969 with RCA Records. Parton quit the Wagoner's band in 1974 after her own singles such as Joshua Coat of Many Colors & Jolene oversold her collaborations. Parton wrote I Will Always love You in honor of Wagoner following their split. It reached number one. First time, in 1974.
