Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian/American media critic is also a popular public speech writer. She is the founder of Feminist Frequency the site with videos and guest posts analyzing the portrayals of females in pop culture. Anita Sarkeesian was a Canadian and American feminist media critique. Feminist Frequency examines the way women are depicted in popular culture. Dispelling stereotypes of women is her primary goals. In addition, Sarkeesian discusses issues of specific harassment of women on the internet and other minorities that are left out. Holding a master's degree in social and political thought at York University Sarkeesian is also an extremely sought-after public speaking engagement and has given talks at the TEDxWomen XOXO festival as well as at The United Nations' Broadband Working Group on Gender. While a student at university Sarkeesian was concerned about issues related to gender equality and the rights of women at an early stage. The ebullient young woman was slammed online for launching a website that focused on the gender of videogames. The attack did have been a hindrance, rather it made her more determined to be a feminist media critic. Many awards have been presented to her as a way of acknowledging all the contributions that she have made. Anita Sarkeesian is an award winning media critic and the creator of Feminist Frequency an educational non-profit focused on the portrayal of women in pop cultural and the narratives that surround them.
